Understanding Depression

“Every emotion has a story to tell”

Depression is often misunderstood and is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide. By understanding depression as a disability, we can better support those affected and foster a more compassionate society.

My Angels, please understand that depression is more than just feeling sad or having a bad day/week. It is a mental health condition characterised by feelings of sadness, hopelessness and/or a lack of interest or joy in activities. Physical symptoms such as fatigue, changes in appetite, and trouble sleeping are common symptoms.

Living with depression can feel isolating, but it is important to remember that help is readily available. Therapy, medication and lifestyle changes can significantly improve symptoms and your quality of life. Reaching out to a mental health professional is a scary, but vital, step in managing depression.

Another aspect that I have found is that self-care is an essential component of managing depression. Looking after yourself by doing small things helps to lift the weight of darkness that is in your mind. Never underestimate the little things, and the power of your mind. It is a powerful tool that can lift you up, or bring your down. Other small things like mindfulness practices, such as meditation or even yoga, can help reduce stress and improve your general mood. It’s also important to engage in activities that bring joy – reading, taking a walk, a hobby – all take you out of your mind for a bit.

Also – acknowledge that it is okay for you not to be okay Be kind to yourself.
